Design Ideas // Winter Branches

November 12, 2015

It has been cold and blustery here in Colorado the last couple days causing the last of the leaves to be blown away. Now that the trees branches are bare, it is really starting to feel like winter is right around the corner. Wanting to bring some of the outdoors inside as it gets colder, I have been inspired by these bare branches and how easily they can turn into rustic art. Using branches as decor add a sense of warmth to your house (plus it is eco-friendly and cheap!). Here are some inspiring ways I came across to decorate with branches if you’d like to see!

Design Ideas // Cozy for Fall

September 17, 2015

It may the Norwegian in me, but I cannot seem to get enough of shearling. It is the perfect way to add some coziness to your home when the weather starts to get cooler (any day now!). The Scandinavian style is easy to mimic, throwing a shearling blanket over your bed or couch, adding a few fuzzy pillows, or simply throwing a warm rug down by your bed to sink your toes in when you wake up. If you aren’t down with having the actual animal skins around, there are plenty of gorgeous faux options that are just as soft (like this rug or blanket). All you need to add now is the hot chocolate and roaring fire (a girl can dream, it is still 90 degrees.) What is your favorite way to cozy-up your house?Design Ideas // Cozy for FallDesign Ideas // Cozy for FallDesign Ideas // Cozy for FallDesign Ideas // Cozy for Fallhttps://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/fb/a8/6b/fba86b90e60493424ffc4fd7cb26f09d.jpgDesign Ideas // Cozy for Fall

Design Ideas // Quirky Planters

August 20, 2015

Design Ideas // Quirky PlantersI am slowly learning how not to kill even the most resilient house plant. And since learning how beneficial adding a little green in your house can be, I have been trying to expand my indoor collection of plants. While doing so, I have gotten a little bored of the plain terra cotta pots and have been searching for some not so run-of-the-mill planters. I have come across some great quirky planters that not only hold said plants, but quickly add some character to the house. Here are some of my favorites if you’d like to see! Do you have a lot of plants in your home?

Design Ideas // Wall Tapestry

August 12, 2015

Our mom was a hippie before she had us kids. Her bohemian style was found in her peasant skirts, Birkenstocks, long straight hair parted down the middle, and mandala wall tapestries – all of which mortified me when I was little. Slowly that style morphed into the 80s perm and mom jeans, but that is a whole other story. Looking back now, I would have loved to be passed down those quintessential 70s pieces. Most of all, the wall hangings. As I have been looking for an inexpensive way to add color and art to my place, I keep on stumbling on tapestries. Here are a few that I love (and that don’t scream dorm room!) if you’d like to see. ANd I’d love to hear – do you have any memories of your parents style that embarrassed you at the time, but would love to have now?
