Having a fresh cup of coffee is a part of my morning ritual the I look forward to each day. Taking the time to make the coffee and then sitting down to enjoy it helps me start my day off both relaxed and ready for the day. The process of making the coffee is as much a part of the ritual as savoring the warm cup. Making French press coffee is much simpler than you may think and the result is rich and smooth cup of coffee.

French Press Coffee

Here are the 5 easy steps to make french press coffee. What does your morning ritual include?

Fill your french press up to the top metal bar with water and pour into pot or kettle to bring to a boil. (Tip: use warm water and it will preheat your press as well)

Using your favorite coffee bean, grind 8 tablespoons of beans coarsely. Add the grinds to your press.

Once water is boiling, take it off the heat and let stand for 30 seconds. Then fill press halfway, soaking all the grounds. Let bloom for 1 minute.

Then fill the press to the top, stir the grounds and return the lid (do not press yet!) Let steep for 4-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your coffee.

Press the coffee, and serve. If there is any left over, i like to pour into a carafe or insulated travel mug to keep warm and so the coffee doesn’t get bitter and sludgy.

Relax and enjoy your coffee!
